Built in c1730, The Big House on the Hill is a loose translation of it’s Welsh name; ‘Plas Uchaf’ (literally 'Highest Place’). Standing in an elevated unique position overlooking the Tanat Valley, the house is surrounded by beautiful gardens and landscape.
Inside, the elegant spaces are full of period features alongside modern comforts. Across three floors, the house comfortably sleeps 14 in seven individual bedrooms with 7 bathrooms.

Throughout your stay you’ll probably keep noticing all the quirky details! we’ve used some stunning fabrics, antique furniture, and artwork from all over the world. All our rooms are different across the 1st and 2nd floor - please request floor plans!

Cosy sleeps in cosy nests

In our 7 completely individual bedrooms you’ll find peace and space. We have everything you’ll need to relax - Hypnos mattresses, cosy throws, interesting artwork, piles of books and beautiful views.

Catering options

If you really don’t want to cook, we can organise a private chef to create delicious home cooked breakfasts using local produce, atmospheric candle lit evening meals, or simple sharing suppers.

Grounds and gardens

Up a long sweeping private drive, the 4 acres of garden have spectacular views, a beautiful large lawn perfect for croquet, a seating area, a 6 seater hot tub and group outdoor dining area set outside the French doors.

Plenty of space

There’s ample space to relax, with lots of space and cosy seating to enjoy the open fires with a good book, or enjoy the views. Two living rooms, a snug, large family kitchen and big dining room means plenty of space to unwind.

Events or celebrations

If you’re planning a birthday, family get together or tiny wedding why not hold it here!! We can decorate tables, create beautiful menus and help with all the things that make special moments. Our 14 seater outdoor table is also perfect in the summer!

Beautifully different

All of our rooms are completely different, in size and colour and form. We have 5 ensuite rooms, and a pair of twin rooms each with dedicated bathrooms over the hallway sleeping a maximum of 14. We can also accommodate an additional two infants under 2 years old in travel cots for no extra charge.
